China Small Animal Protection Association

On October 20, 2020, initiated by the China Small Animal Protection Association, more than ten people from local animal protection organizations, legal experts and senior animal protection volunteers held the first preparatory communication meeting of the "China Stray Animal Rescue Alliance" in Beijing.

Zhang Haiqiang, Secretary General of the China Small Animal Protection Association, Mr. Cui, a senior animal protection expert, Lawyer Qi, a senior animal protection lawyer, the initiator of Nanjing Ping An Afu Stray Animal Rescue Center, the founder of Changzhi Small Animal Protection Association, the vice president of Xi'an Small Animal Protection Association, the person in charge of the Children's Paradise Adoption Center, the founder of the Taida Dog Stray Dog Rescue Base, the initiator of the Liaoning Yingkou Small Animal Protection Organization, and the front-line volunteers of stray animal rescue and animal cruelty in Beijing participated in the meeting.

The meeting focused on the current situation and rescue experience of stray animal rescue institutions in various places.

As a national first-class professional social organization registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 1992, the China Small Animal Protection Association is also a public welfare social organization practicing companion animal protection in China, and has the obligation and ability to widely unite the country's excellent stray animal rescue centers, aggregate a wider range of resources in the whole society, and explore new consortium and large-scale rescue models on the basis of scattered and personalized rescue of non-governmental forces, and use the construction of the China Stray Animal Rescue Alliance to reduce stray animals, ensure animal welfare, and improve the efficiency of rescue operations.

The heads of animal protection organizations in various places expressed their hope to work side by side with the China Small Animal Protection Association to gather resources and contribute to the protection of stray animals in China by building a rescue alliance.

According to the World Health Organization, there are more than 200 million stray dogs in the world. According to incomplete statistics, the number of stray dogs in China exceeds 40 million, accounting for 20% of the world. These dogs are likely to be infected with or carry rabies virus due to poor living conditions and unattended care.

Many attempts have been made to control the number of stray dogs and other stray animals around the world, from the earliest euthanasia to widespread vaccination, sterilization and re-adoption in recent years. Many countries have gradually formed animal protection regulations, and through the joint efforts of officials and the people, they have reduced the impact of stray animals on human society.

A small step today may be a big step tomorrow!
