The 12th chapter of the Lotus Sutra Devadatta

At that time, the Buddha told the Bodhisattvas and the four heavenly beings: "I have sought the Lotus Sutra in the past countless kalpas without any laziness or fatigue." He always became a king for many kalpas, and made a vow to seek supreme Bodhi, without regressing his mind. In order to satisfy the Six Paramitas, one should make a diligent donation, without any stinginess in his heart, elephant, horse, seven treasures, country, city, wife, son, slave, servant, head, eyes, marrow, brain, body, flesh, hands, feet, and life. At that time, the people of the world had an immeasurable lifespan. For the sake of the Dharma, they donated their ranks and appointed the prince to the government, beat the drums and proclaim the orders, and sought the Dharma from all directions: "Who can tell me about the Mahayana for me, I will provide the envoy for life. ”At that time, there was an immortal who came to Bai and said, "I have Mahayana, called the Lotus Sutra. If I do not go against me, I should preach it. ”When the king heard the immortal's words, he was very happy and excited. He followed the immortals' needs, picked fruits, drew water, picked firewood, set food, and even used his body as the bed seat, without any fatigue in his body and mind. He served and practiced for thousands of years at that time. For the sake of the Dharma, he served diligently and made everything useless. ’ 

At that time, the World Honored One wanted to reiterate this meaning and said: 

I remember the past kalpas, and in order to seek the great Dharma, even though I became the king of the world, I am not greedy for the five desires.  

I beat the bell and told all directions that anyone who has great Dharma? If I explain it to me, I will be a slave.  

There was Ah Pianxian, who came to be a king. I had a subtle method, which is rare in the world. 

If you can practice, I will tell you. When the king heard the immortal's words, he felt very happy. 

Even if it is as good as the immortal, it is provided to the needs. Picking firewood and fruit cucumbers, always respectfully, 

Because emotions have wonderful methods, the body and mind are unremitting and tired. All sentient beings, diligently seek the great Dharma, 

Nor do you enjoy the five desires for yourself or for the pleasures of the five desires. Therefore, he was the great king, and he diligently sought to obtain this method. 

So he became a Buddha, so I will tell you now.  

The Buddha told the monks: "At that time, the king is my body." The immortals at that time are now Devadatta. Because of the good teacher Devadatta, I have achieved the six paramitas, compassion, joy and giving, thirty-two forms, eighty kinds of goodness, purple and golden colors, ten powers, four fearlessness, four methods of supremacy, eighteen uncommon, divine channel power, and achieve equal enlightenment and save all living beings. This is because of the good teacher Devadatta. ’ 

He told the four groups: 'Devadatha after countless kalpas, he would become a Buddha, called the Heavenly King Tathagata, the offering, the right knowledge, the clear practice, the good worldly understanding, the supreme scholar, the control of her husband, the teacher of heaven and man, the Buddha, and the World Honored One. The world's famous way of heaven. At that time, the Heavenly King Buddha and the Buddha lived in the world for twenty kalpas, they widely taught the wonderful Dharma to sentient beings. The sentient beings in the Ganges sands have obtained the Arhat fruit, countless sentient beings have developed the mind of Pratyekabuddha, and the sentient beings in the Ganges sands have developed the supreme mind of the path, and have obtained the patience of non-birth, and will never regress. ’ 

‘After the Buddha-like Nirvana, the Dharma will be in the world for twenty kalpas. The whole body is relic, the seven-tale pagoda is 60 yojanas high and forty yojanas wide. The people of the heavens all use miscellaneous flowers, powdered fragrance, burn incense, paint incense, clothes, garlands, banners, treasure covers, music, singing, and worship and offer to the seven-tale pagoda. Infinite sentient beings who have attained the Arhat fruit, countless sentient beings who have attained the Pratyekabuddha, they cannot conceive sentient beings who have attained the Bodhicitta, and will never regress. ’ 

The Buddha told the monks: 'In the future, if there are good men and women who hear the Devadatta chapter of the Wonderful Lotus Sutra, who have pure heart, faith and respect, and who do not have doubts, they will not fall into hell, hungry ghosts, or animals, and will be born in front of Buddhas in the ten directions, and will always hear this sutra where they are born. If you are born in humans and heaven, you will receive superior and wonderful happiness, if you are in front of the Buddha, you will be born. ’ 

At the moment, the Buddha Duobao World-Honored One and the Bodhisattva whom he is following is called Zhiji, and the Buddha Bai Duobao said: "It should be returned to the land." ’Sakyamuni Buddha told Zhiji: "Good man, wait for a moment, there is a Bodhisattva named Manjushri, who can meet and discuss the wonderful Dharma, and return to the local land." ’ 

At that time, Manjushri sat on a thousand-leaf lotus, as big as a wheel. Both came and came to the Bodhisattva also sat on a precious lotus, which naturally surged out from the Sagaluo Dragon Palace in the sea, lived in the void, went to Lingjiu Mountain, from the lotus, and to the Buddha's place, and saluted the two worlds. After practicing respect, I went to the place where I accumulated wisdom and gave me condolences, but sat down.  

Bodhisattva Zhiji asked Manjushri: "What are the numbers of sentient beings that Ren goes to the Dragon Palace? ’Manjushri said: "There are countless numbers that cannot be calculated, not written by the mouth or measured by the mind. You can only realize it after a moment. ’Before what he said, countless Bodhisattvas and lotus flowers gushed out of the sea, went to Mount Lingjiu, and lived in the void. These Bodhisattvas are all transformed by Manjushri, and have the Bodhisattva's practices. They all discuss the six paramitas in total. This is the Śrāvaka who speaks the Śrāvaka practice in the void, and now he is practicing the meaning of Mahayana emptiness. Manjushri said to Zhiji: "Educate and transform in the sea, and the matter is like this." ’At that time, Bodhisattva Zhiji praised him with a verse: 

Great wisdom, virtue, courage and prosperity, and transform countless people. Now all the conferences, and I have seen them.  

To unfold the true meaning, to expound the One Vehicle, to guide all sentient beings, to quickly achieve Bodhi, 

Manjushri said: 'I am always preaching the wonderful Lotus Sutra in the sea. ’Zhiji asked Manjushri: "This sutra is very profound and subtle. The treasures among the sutras are rare in the world. There are many sentient beings who are diligent and diligent. Can you quickly gain the Buddha by practicing this sutra? ’Manjushri said: "The daughter of the Dragon King of Sha Jialuo is eight years old. She is wise and has good knowledge of all sentient beings' various abilities and knowledge, and has obtained Dharani. All the profound secrets that all Buddhas can uphold. In-depth meditation and understanding all dharmas, in an instant, develop the Bodhicitta, without regression, and without hindrance. Be kind to sentient beings, like a child, with full merits, and a subtle and vast mind, compassionate and kind, with gentle will, and can reach Bodhi. ’ 

Bodhisattva Zhiji said: "I have seen that Shakyamuni Tathagata has accumulated merits and virtues for countless kalpas, seeking the path to Bodhi, but has never stopped." Looking at the three thousand great worlds, even nothing is like a mustard seed, not the place where the Bodhisattva sacrifices his body and life for sentient beings, then he can achieve the path to Bodhi. If you don’t believe this woman will realize her enlightenment in a moment. ’Before the speech was finished, the Dragon King's daughter suddenly appeared in front of her, and she looked respectful to her head, but she sat down and praised her with a verse: 

Deeply realize the appearance of sin and blessings, illuminating all over the ten directions, subtle and pure Dharma body, with thirty-two appearances, 

Use eighty kinds of good deeds and solemn Dharma body. The gods are respectful to them, the dragon gods are respectful to them. 

All sentient beings are all those who follow them. He also heard that he had achieved Bodhi, but only Buddha should realize it. 

I expound the Mahayana teachings to save all living beings.  

At that time, Shariputra said to the Dragon Girl: "You say that you will soon attain the supreme path, and it is hard to believe in it." What is that? The woman's body is dirty and not a magic tool, so how can she obtain the supreme Bodhi? The Buddha's path is vast and has been accomplished after countless kalpas, diligent and hard work, and practiced with all kinds of measures. In addition, a woman's body still has five obstacles. One is not allowed to be a Brahma King, the second is Indra, the third is a Demon King, the fourth is a Wheel-turning Holy King, and the fifth is a Buddha body. How can a woman's body become a Buddha quickly? ’ 

At that time, the dragon girl had a pearl worth three thousand great worlds and held the above Buddha. The Buddha received it immediately. The dragon girl said to Bodhisattva Zhiji and Venerable Shariputra: "I offer the jewels and the Buddha accepts them. Is this a problem achievable?" ’The answer: 'It's very sick. ’The woman said: "Use your divine power to see me become a Buddha, and then hurry up here." ’At that time, all the gatherings saw the dragon girl, suddenly, becoming a man, taking the Bodhisattva's practice, and then heading to the southern world of impure, sitting on the lotus, achieving enlightenment, thirty-two forms and eighty kinds of goodness, all sentient beings in the ten directions and preaching wonderful methods. At that time, the Saha world, Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, the Eight Tribes of the Heavenly Dragon, and the Noble Man and the Noble Man all saw that the dragon girl became a Buddha from afar. They all knew the preaching of humans and heavenly beings. They were very happy and saluted from afar. Infinite sentient beings who hear the Dharma and understand it, they will not regress, infinite sentient beings who receive the record of the Tao, the world of impure and the six rebellions will shake, the world of Saha, the three thousand sentient beings who live in the state of unretreatment, and the three thousand sentient beings who develop the Bodhicitta, and they will be remembered. Bodhisattvas of Wisdom and Shariputra, all the associations, believe in and receive them silently.
