What exactly is the deity? How to determine the deity you should practice? How to know which deity you are more destined to be with?

The so-called deity is a method of practice that oneself specializes in practicing.The Buddha who is focused on practicing is called the deity.I am the master, or the venerable or holy master who practices this behavior, called it in Tibetan. Yidam“ "I mean it."

“Intention is the heart, and "destiny" is determined in the heart; in the heart, I must practice this, and swear to practice a certain method, and the Buddha that needs to be practiced at the core is called the deity.If you have greater faith in which Buddha or Bodhisattva, you will have greater faith in it. If you have a destiny with this Buddha or Bodhisattva, you will practice faster.
  
Let me give you an example: The Moon Palace Bodhisattva is a layperson, a very knowledgeable layman, and a great master of the Yogacara school;Moon-Chapter Bodhisattva is a monk and a very knowledgeable Madhyamaka school of great virtue.One day, the Moon Palace Bodhisattva came to Nalanda Temple, and Moon Earn Bodhisattva happened to debate with the heretics outside the door.

Because in ancient India, each temple had to have the most knowledgeable Panditar sitting outside the door in order to deal with the heretics who came to debate.The Moon Palace Bodhisattva came and sat there.
  
Moon-Cheng Bodhisattva thought: This person may be more famous.So he asked Moon Palace: "What method have you learned?" Moon Palace replied: "I have learned Manjushri's fundamental sequel."
  
Yue Cheng asked again: "Are you a Bodhisattva in the Moon Palace?" Yue Cheng said: "Yes, this is what you call me."Moon-Zhu Bodhisattva was very happy and said, "Wait, I must welcome you grandly.”
  
The Bodhisattva of Moon Earing allows all monks to welcome the Moon Palace grandly.However, it is not allowed for monks to line up to welcome a layperson in the precepts.What to do?

So on the carriage in front, a statue of Maitreya Buddha was placed, and in the carriage behind, there was a Moon Palace Bodhisattva sitting. When walking on the road, when the Moon Palace Bodhisattva communicated with the statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva, Maitreya Bodhisattva turned around and faced the Moon Palace Bodhisattva. When the waiter next to him saw it, the Buddha statue stopped moving.

It is said that there has always been a statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva facing the back.Later, the Moon Palace Bodhisattva and the Moon Palace Bodhisattva debated every day. When the debate was over in the afternoon, the Moon Palace Bodhisattva was speechless, but on the next day, he would have a way to answer yesterday's questions;

Bodhisattva Yuecheng suspected that there must be a famous teacher who was guiding him, so he quietly peeked and found that Bodhisattva Yue Palace was in the Buddha Hall, and Guanyin Bodhisattva was preaching to him, but after he entered, the stone statue stopped moving.
  
Bodhisattva Yuecheng prayed to Guanyin Bodhisattva to appear and preach, saying, "Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, are your compassions close and close?"

Guanyin Bodhisattva still did not show up, and only a voice said to him: "You are destined to be Manjushri Bodhisattva, and he is blessing you; I am destined to be with the Moon Palace Bodhisattva, and I will preach to him, so don't disturb me!"

It is said that there is still a stone statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva who can preach the Dharma.So this is called fate, not choosing the original deity, but which deity you have more fate with.
  

As for how to determine your own deity, there are several ways:
  
1、 Your master is like a doctor. He will prescribe the right medicine according to your condition and symptoms. The master will teach you the most suitable Dharma to you as the deity of practicing.
  
2、 Observe which one is more serious, greed, anger, ignorance, and troubles in the continuum of one's own mind: those with more ignorance should use Manjushri Bodhisattva as the deity to open up wisdom;
  
Those with severe anger should use Guanyin Bodhisattva as the deity to cultivate compassion and forbearance, and in this way to subdue one's own continuity.
  
3、 If one is born with special emotions and respect for a certain Buddha and Bodhisattva, then one can conclude that there must be a cause and condition first.
  
4、 You can also use the method of fortune-telling to determine the deity.
  
5、 In addition, when cultivating Bodhicitta, you should use Guanyin Bodhisattva as your deity to cultivate compassion; when cultivating the right view of emptiness, you should use Manjushri Bodhisattva as your deity to easily generate pure and correct view.
  
6、 In addition, taking Vairocana Buddha as the deity, he can cure ignorance and obtain the wisdom of the great mirror; taking Amitabha Buddha as the deity, he can cure greed and obtain the wisdom of wonderful observation; taking Treasure Buddha as the deity, he can cure arrogance and obtain the wisdom of equality;
  
Taking the Buddha who is not empty as the deity, cure suspicion and jealousy, and obtain the wisdom of what is done; taking the Buddha who is not moving as the deity, cure the anger and obtain the wisdom of the nature of the Dharma Realm.
