What kind of attitude should we adopt for the three refuges? I think this has to be done with ten minds.
First, faith: believing in Buddha has great wisdom and great merit, and no one can surpass it in heaven and earth; He is the teacher of the three realms and the loving father of the four lives. Belief in the Dharma is what the Buddha said, it is the practice of all sages, it can make all sentient beings free from suffering and happiness, transcend into holiness, is a light in the dark room, and a good medicine for long-term illness. The monk is a disciple of the Buddha, an abbot of the Dharma, teaching and admonishing sentient beings, and he firmly believes in the Three Treasures. This is called faith.
Second, rare mind: Buddhas are born, like spiritual auspicious flowers, and they appear at once; The supreme wonderful method is rare to encounter in hundreds of thousands of eons. Now that I am in the Buddhist Dharma, I should have rare thoughts and rare thoughts. The Buddhist scriptures say: ; When people leave the evil path, it is difficult to be a man, and it is difficult to complete the six roots; The six roots are in place, and it is difficult to give birth to China; Born in China, it was difficult for the Buddha to come to life; Since it is the Buddha's world, it is difficult to meet the Taoist; Once you have encountered the way, it is difficult to have confidence. Knowing that the three treasures of Buddha, Dharma, and Monk are rare and rare are called rare minds.
Third, joy: The three treasures of Buddha, Dharma, and monks have all been encountered, and the roots are not lacking, and the causes and conditions are sufficient, so they can practice, and if they practice according to this, they can be free from all suffering and gain all happiness in the future. If you are hungry and thirsty for food, sick and sick, you will be happy, grateful and happy, this is joy.
Fourth, the heart of gravity: When I took the three refuges, I felt that this was an extremely important thing, because I had not taken refuge in the Three Jewels for hundreds of thousands of eons, so I was constantly born and died in reincarnation, and suffered all kinds of suffering. Today's three refuges are laying a solid foundation for transcendent sanctification and happiness from suffering, which has never been experienced in millions of eons. Therefore, he does not dare to neglect the solemn affairs of the three refuges, which is called the heart of gravity.
Fifth, true mind: Taking the three refuges is to get rid of suffering and happiness, to become a Buddha for oneself and others, not to ask for people's approval, nor to have any other effect, let alone to run with others casually. From the perspective of motive, honesty must be made, which is called true mind.
Sixth, strengthen the mind: Since you have received the three refuges, you must firmly accept it wholeheartedly, no matter under any circumstances, you must not convert to foreign paths halfway, nor can you forget the three refuges without remembering. This kind of firm support, not retreating and not losing, is called a strong heart.
Seventh, pure mind: Since you have received the three refuges, you are a formal Buddhist, and from now on you should cut off all evil and cultivate all good. All kinds of evil intentions such as greed, anger, and infatuation, all kinds of physical evils such as killing, stealing, and adultery, and all kinds of evil words such as falsehoods, beautiful words, two ancient words, and evil mouths, must be eliminated, and they must also recite the Buddha to seek rebirth in the Pure Land; To make the body and mind pure without all obstacles is called a pure mind.
Eighth, wisdom mind: Having received the three refuges, practicing evil and cultivating goodness, and chanting Buddha to seek rebirth in the Pure Land, it is already a hidden Buddha's wisdom and secretly in line with the Tao. If we can go one step further to the theory of the three refuges, such as the four teachings and six i.e., the meaning of the same body and different phases will be clear and smooth; Turning the knowledge of ordinary people and non-paths into Buddha's knowledge is called wisdom mind.
Ninth, eternal mind: After receiving the three refuges, it is to be held to the fullest life. In fact, this is still a convenient way of saying that taking the three refuges is to be held in the future. Since the first three refuges, through the three monks in the middle, until they became Buddhas, in such a long period of time, they will never be confused by the heavenly demons and heretics, which is called the eternal mind.
Tenth, the vast mind: Receiving the three refuges is not only for oneself to be free from suffering and attain happiness, but also to make all sentient beings free from suffering and become transcendent. Therefore, if you receive the three refuges, you must also teach all sentient beings to receive the three refuges. This is not to mention, but also to teach all sentient beings to cut off evil and cultivate goodness, chant Buddha to seek rebirth in the Pure Land, and ultimately get rid of all suffering and all happiness. If you develop such a broad mind yourself, you must also teach all sentient beings to develop a broad mind. In this way, the Buddha's seed, the Dharma's seed, and the monk's seed can be continuous. However, this is the intention of the great bodhisattva, and it may be difficult for beginners to do it for a while, but they must know and learn according to their points.
With the above attitude, that is, if you send out such ten minds to receive the three refuges, it can be said that you have truly received the three refuges, and you can be regarded as a true disciple of the Tathagata and a Buddhist.
