1、Amitabha Buddha's name gives the cause and condition

Amitabha Buddha is the current Buddha who has become a Buddha for ten kalpas in the past ten kalpas.The distant cause of the name of Amitabha Buddha being praised by all Buddhas in the ten directions should be traced back to the factors that initially gave the prophecy and formed the name of Amitabha Buddha.

In addition to the "Amitabha Sutra", the causes and conditions for the title of Amitabha Buddha are also explained in detail in the "Compassion Sutra" and the Mahayana Compassionate Sutra".

The scripture says: "Amitabha Buddha was born as a wheel-turning holy king during the birth of a treasure Buddha, called Li Zheng.In that lifetime, King Lizheng was in Haiji Brahmin (Guanyin's predecessor )Through enlightenment, we have made countless great vows to become a Buddha in the Pure Land.In that lifetime of rebirth, the Treasure Tathagata prefaced the future world and name of becoming a Buddha."

According to the above scriptures, before Amitabha Buddha became a Buddha, countless Pure Land worlds appeared in the space of the Western Pure Land.When Amitabha Buddha became a Buddha, the original Pure Land world was renamed to the Western Pure Land according to Amitabha Buddha's original vow.This is an important issue that those who recite the Buddha’s name should recognize and pay attention to.

All dharmas are not separated from the law of cause and condition. Without the law of cause and condition, one cannot see the fundamental principles of Buddhism. Especially in today's miscellaneous teachings, we should use the law of cause and condition to understand the Pure Land and prove the existence of the Pure Land world with the law of cause and condition.Now, according to the scriptures, we will briefly explain the causes and conditions of Amitabha Buddha's initial prophecy.

「At that time, the treasure Buddha taught King Li Zheng, "In the past incredible countless kalpas, I passed through hundreds of billions of Buddha lands from the West, and there was a world called Emperor Wuchen, and the Buddha was called Emperor Ming Zizai King Tathagata.During the reign of Emperor Ming and Liberty Buddha, he gave me the One Vehicle Dharma to all living in his country...The merits and solemnity of that world are just as the king wishes to become a Buddha now.Therefore, according to the great king's original vow, we will preface the name of becoming a Buddha for the king, which is called Immortal Pureness. (That is, the name of Amitabha Buddha )。

King! After the Emperor and the Emperor Ming and the Buddha passed away, the Dharma will survive in the world for ten small kalpas.After the destruction of the Dharma, after sixty small kalpas, the world of Emperor Wuchen was transformed into the world of Milouguang, forming another world called the Incredible King of Virtue Buddha, which was born and taught sentient beings, and the original vow to save the cause and condition of life.After the Nirvana of King Virtue Buddha, the Dharma survived for 60 small kalpas in the world.After the destruction of the Dharma, after a thousand small kalpas, the Milou Light World was transformed into the world of Wuyou, and the Buddha Youbao Light was born.After the Buddha of Treasure Light and Brightness was reborn as the World of Sala, and the Buddha of Treasure Banner Freedom and Ming was born.

After the Nirvana of the Baobao Free Ming Buddha, countless Buddhas have successively preached the cause and condition of saving birth according to their original vows, forming the cause and condition of transformation of the infinite Pure Land world.During the period when countless Buddhas were born and nirvana, the incredible Pure Land world has been constantly transformed according to the original vows of all Buddhas to save lives and form an incredible Pure Land world of different levels.It has not been eliminated, and it is not predictable when it will begin to form (That world has never failed )。

Just after the Nirvana of countless Buddhas, after about one asamkhya kalpa of the Ganges River, now entering the second asamkhya kalpa of the Ganges River, the incredible Pure Land world that constantly transforms with the Buddhas' original vows is transformed into the world of happiness. (Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss ),You will achieve the supreme Buddhahood at that time, and the Buddha is called Amitabha Tathagata.With the wisdom light of your perfect accomplishment, you will shine in the sandy world of Ganges in all directions, and will lead countless pure sentient beings who are destined to you to be reborn in the Pure Land.The solemn situation of the Buddha's kingdom is just like the world of Emperor Wuchen mentioned earlier."

2、Why is Amitabha’s reputation spread throughout the ten directions?

King of Li Jian (That is Mita )After being given the prophecy by the Treasure Buddha, he actively practiced the method of becoming a Buddha.Because Amitabha Buddha traveled back and forth to save sentient beings during his active practice, he made Amitabha Buddha’s reputation spread throughout the ten directions.When they are like all Buddhas, they have achieved the ten powers, the four fearless things, and the forty uncommon Dharmas, the Buddha's wisdom and light shine on the ten directions of the world, attracting sentient beings with affinity to be reborn in the Pure Land.This is also one of the reasons why Amitabha’s name is praised and praised by all Buddhas.

As Volume 12 of the "Ten Abha Vabasa Treatise" says: "There are forty uncommon dharmas of all Buddhas, which are accomplished by the accumulation of infinite wisdom and merits.Because all Buddhas matured these forty uncommon dharmas, they called Buddhas all wise men.With these forty uncommon dharmas, all Buddhas have widely saved countless sentient beings from the suffering of life and death. Therefore, they have been grateful and praised by sentient beings in the ten directions, and have praised merits and praises, which has led to the reputation of all Buddhas spreading to the ten directions."

And how did Amitabha Buddha cultivate these forty uncommon dharmas like all Buddhas?

Volume 11 says: "All Buddhas have settled in the four merits and practiced the six paramitas in countless great kalpas. They can possess all the dharmas that Bodhisattvas practice and achieve the power of infinite merits, and do not share the fruits of all sentient beings.Therefore, when all Buddhas become Buddhas, the consequences are also different. To sum up, they achieve the supreme merits of these forty uncommon three vehicles."

『Volume 16 of Nirvana Sutra further explains: "Why is good man called me?" (Amitabha )The Buddha is the Tathagata, the offerings, the omniscient knowledge, and even the ten names of the Buddhas? Why do these ten names of the Buddhas have infinite merits and infinite reputations? It should be known that a great Bodhisattva who has great intentions and great vows has often set an example in order to persuade sentient beings to practice the path of giving.

In order to persuade sentient beings to understand the harm of indulging in desires, transcend the sea of desires, and set an example, keep precepts and abstinence, and explain the meaning of sufferings of desires.

In order to persuade sentient beings to endure humiliation and cultivate virtue, we set an example and endure humiliation and bear heavy burdens. It is unbearable to endure it.

In order to persuade sentient beings to strive for diligence towards Buddha, and to benefit others, we spare no effort.In order to encourage sentient beings to practice meditation, we set an example, meditate day and night, and widely explain the method of meditation.

In order to persuade sentient beings to seek the wisdom of the Buddha, they read scriptures, spread the Dharma, and guide people with wisdom...

After countless kalpas, countless merits and wisdom have been accumulated, and countless methods of cultivating the mind of great compassion, great compassion, great joy and great giving.Because the four immeasurable minds have achieved perfectly, they have surpassed the state of practice of the shravakas, pratyekabuddhas, and bodhisattvas, and attained the ten powers of the Buddha's fruit, and the four fearless uncommon dharmas... and even (Forty uncommon laws )。Due to this reason, all Buddhas have received a vast name in the ten directions of the world, and have achieved ten achievements, and are praised by sentient beings in the ten directions."

『The Amitabha Sutra also shows that a great Bodhisattva practitioner has achieved fame and enlightenment in countless worlds because of the vast saving of sentient beings in the ten directions. As the scripture says, "These Bodhisattvas... have attained equal enlightenment in countless Buddha lands.All the scriptures are perfect and wonderful, with their names reaching all directions, and they guide the countless Buddhas and all of them protect and remember them... Such Bodhisattvas and countless great masters cannot be praised, but they will come to meet them in a while."

After the treasure Buddha was given prophecy, Amitabha Buddha, he added and gathered the great vows that had been developed in front of all Buddhas in the past, and continued to aggravate and fulfill the vows of becoming a Buddha in front of all Buddhas in the future. After countless calamities of diligent practice, he not only "practice the six paramitas by themselves, but also teaches people to do it. Because of the accumulation of merits and virtues in countless kalpas, he can make the living where he lives, according to his desire, and naturally respond to the infinite treasures, and teach countless sentient beings to abide in the supreme and true way.When he practiced the Bodhisattva Path in the past, he was either reborn as an elder and noble layman, or reborn as a saint of the Karma Army, or transformed into a desire realm God or even a Brahma King... and always offer sacrifices to all Buddhas with four things, and respects all the Buddhas. Such merits cannot be described...The breath is as fragrant and clean as the flower of Uber, the pores of the body, and the sandalwood is in the field. Its fragrance is full of the infinite world, its appearance is correct, its appearance is wonderful, and its hands always produce endless treasures, such as clothes, food, precious fragrances, and all the majestic tools of the banners. Such things transcend all humans and heavens, and they are free in all dharmas..." (See the Amitabha Sutra )

Amitabha Buddha used this endless vow to benefit sentient beings to cultivate the ten powers of the Buddha's fruit, the four fearless and uncommon dharmas, and even the forty uncommon dharmas.With the holy name of merit gathered by these ten powers and four fearless things, the holy name of merit has been widely used to escape from the sea of suffering by humans and heaven, resulting in reputation spread throughout the world of Buddhas and chanted by sentient beings and Buddhas in the ten directions.
