Episode 105 Lotus Girl Enlightenment of Impermanence

Dear Bodhisattvas: Amitabha!

Welcome to the "Selected Buddhist Stories".The Buddhist story we are going to tell today is "The Lotus Girl Enlightenment of Impermanence". We will use this story to further illustrate the five yin falsehoods taught by Sakyamuni Buddha.

When the Buddha was alive, there was a woman named Lianhua (Lotus means lotus )，She has a very good looks, she is very beautiful, and has a very good figure. She can be said to be as beautiful as a fairy in that country;Because she is so beautiful, the nobles of the royal palaces across the country like to get close to her very much. They use various reasons to see her or get close to her. The people of the entire country like her very much.But this Lotus girl did not indulge in her voice because she was very, very beautiful;Because she had very deep roots in her past lives, she was not very obsessed with the beauty, prosperity, laughter and other worldly joys.

As she grew older and years passed, the Lotus Girl felt very bored of accepting praise from others every day in an environment like her, and many royal nobles came to her to please her, wanted to get close to her, give her all kinds of gifts, give her various benefits, and so on;So one day, she finally made up her mind that she would leave such a prosperous and laughing life, and follow the Buddha to become a monk and practice.

After she made such a decision, the Lotus Girl herself, and one day she left this castle and country, and then walked step by step to the Lingjiu Mountain where the Buddha lived, preparing to go to the Buddha's residence on Lingjiu Mountain and ask the Buddha to become a monk to practice Buddhism.She walked step by step and went to a place in the middle to rest. In this resting place, she heard the rushing spring water flowing into a pond, and then the spring water was very clean, and a lot of spring water was stored in this pond very clean;The Lotus Girl was tired and her body was dirty when she walked to this place, so she went to the next to the spring and the pond to rest for a while, and then washed her body and washed it off.

When the Lotus Girl brought the water from the pond, the pure and bright water of the pool reflected the beautiful and young appearance of the Lotus Girl;At this time, the Lotus Girl looked at her beautiful and young appearance and thought, "Oh!I am just at such a beautiful young age, and I have such good conditions, which God has given me;I have so much enjoyment that I don’t come and use it well, but I leave!Let's go!I came here so hard and then with such a dusty and dusty face, just to find the Buddha to become a monk. I am really a waste of the conditions given to me by God."So as she thought about it, the Lotus Girl changed her mind and regretted her original decision - to follow the Buddha to become a monk.

Therefore, after she finished thinking, she decided to give up the idea of following the Buddha to become a monk, and return to the royal city where she lived, to accept the favor and appeasement of these nobles in the palace, and to enjoy the glory and wealth of the world;So after she decided, she turned around and walked back to the direction of Raja Castle.

At this time, the Buddha knew with his supernatural power that the Lotus Girl had already resigned, but in fact, the cause and condition for the Lotus Girl to be saved has also matured.Therefore, the Buddha transformed into a very, very beautiful young woman with his supernatural powers. This young woman had a more beautiful appearance and appearance than the Lotus Girl, and was much more beautiful;Then he was a little older than Lianhuan, and was a middle-aged young woman.

This beautiful middle-aged young woman transformed by the Buddha followed the Lotus Girl's journey back to Raja City, and walked towards the Lotus Girl in the opposite direction to her.So as she walked and walked, the Lotus Girl met this beautiful middle-aged young woman and then looked at her face to face, because the two of them were walking towards each other. When the Lotus Girl saw such a beautiful middle-aged young woman, she felt very surprised!She said, “Wow!This middle-aged young woman who came towards me was so beautiful and so beautiful than me!There is such a beautiful woman in the world."So after she saw it, she felt very happy, so she asked the beautiful lady and said, "Madam!Where are you going?"Then the Lotus Girl looked at the lady and asked her while looking at her beautiful appearance, almost forgot about her existence.This middle-aged woman told her that she was just out for a walk;Then I also saw that the Lotus Girl is so beautiful, so I felt happy for the Lotus Girl.So the two of them hit it off at first sight, and then they talked very happily, talking and talking. Then, the beautiful middle-aged young woman and the Lotus Girl returned to the city of Raja together.

On the way back to Raja City, I also came to a place with spring water and a temporary rest.There are some trees in this place, some springs, and then some shade, so it is a very good place to rest;So the Lotus Girl and this beautiful young woman decided to take a good rest here and continue moving forward after they were not tired.So at this time, a gentle cool breeze blew in the woods, and then there was also a spring flowing in the gurgling way. This beautiful young woman was tired and tired as she walked, so she fell asleep against the Lotus Girl's knees.

The girl of Lotus saw this beautiful young woman falling asleep. Because she was so beautiful, she stared at the beautiful young woman and kept looking at her eyes without leaving;But after watching and watching, after a while, suddenly, this beautiful young woman stopped breathing and died.Then the beautiful young woman began to swell, and after a while, she began to ulcerate, and then her body emitted various odors;The Lotus Girl was very surprised when she saw this beautiful young woman suddenly become like this!But I also think how this is the case?His eyes did not leave this beautiful young woman.So, the beautiful young woman then began to grow white and fat maggots in the seven holes of her body, which began to grow from her seven holes - eyes, nose, mouth, ears, etc., and crawl around there;In addition to these seven holes, these maggots began to grow in the internal organs of this beautiful young woman and her limbs. Then some maggots began to break their skin and spread out from the internal organs to the epidermis.

The Lotus Girl was shocked by such a terrible scene!How could such a beautiful young woman become a body with bloody and foggy crawling around everywhere?But the matter was not over yet, and the young woman's body began to change again, with thick blood flowing out, and gradually her limbs began to break, scatter and split;These pus, blood and limbs began to scatter and break, and then they began to rot;After the decay is complete, these limbs and bodies become bones after they rot and then scattered all over the ground. After a while, the bones turn into ashes again, and the whole thing disappears in the soil.Such a rapid change is really incredible for Lotus Girl!She watched a beautiful young woman, from such a peerless and charming appearance, then turned into ulcers, maggots, and even her limbs were scattered into white bones, and finally turned into dust and disappeared into the entire earth;For Lotus Girl, I really felt the impermanence in the entire process of life, and I have seen it all in this short period of time.

After seeing such a rapid and impermanent change, the Lotus Girl sighed in her heart: "These prosperity and these beauty have turned into festering and maggots in a blink of an eye, and even turned into white bones and finally disappeared.These beauties in the world!Look!Isn't it all like this?Although my Lotus Girl now has such a beautiful appearance, it has become a pile of bones and even disappeared in the end after a hundred years;Therefore, there is no need to be obsessed with or greedy for the short-lived beauty, beauty, and the glory and wealth of the world."After understanding this principle, the Lotus Girl stood up again, with her firm determination to practice Buddhism, she turned back to the Lingjiu Mountain where the Buddha lived, step by step.

When he arrived at the Lingjiu Mountain where the Buddha lived, the Lotus Girl became a monk and practiced under the Buddha's seat.After she became a monk and practiced, she diligently practiced in the direction of precepts, concentration and wisdom. Soon after, the Lotus Girl attained the Arhat Fruit and escaped from the pain of reincarnation in the three realms.From the above story of "The Lotus Girl Enlightenment of Impermanence", we can realize that the beauty and glory of the world are actually impermanent. After a hundred years, all of them have become a void.

From this story, let’s explain the truth about the falsehood of the five yin taught by the Buddha.The so-called five yin and five yin are the yin of the yin of the yin day.The content of the five yin: the first one is the color yin, the so-called color yin is the actual matter of the body possessed by sentient beings;That is, the body that is actually weight and volume.The body possessed by sentient beings is accumulated by four elements, namely earth, water, fire and wind;This kind of four material bodies accumulated by earth, water, fire and wind is only one hundred years at most, and in terms of human body, it is only one hundred years at most.A hundred years later, the body gathered by these four elements is completely gone, so this is the illusion of the yin of color.

The second thing we want to talk about is the illusion of being affected.The so-called receiving of the Yin means receiving or accepting.Through our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and body, the functions of the yin-colored eyes, ears, nose, tongue and body root in front of us, we can understand the external realms and accept these external realms;What is accepted by these external states will be painful, happy, or neither suffering nor happy, and it will be impermanent.The pain that I endured today, or the joy that I enjoyed, will disappear tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and even a hundred years later.Therefore, these Yin-inducing things are impermanent, false, and short-lived. Whether it is happiness or pain, it will disappear as time passes.

Come over and think about Yin, and the third is the illusion of Yin.What is the so-called thought?It is awareness, desire or desire, what you want to do.The same is true for such an understanding, desire, or desire. When you see something you like, you will want to see it, but after this time and the state passes, it becomes something in memory;Although it is aware, has hopes, and has desires, as time goes by, it will become illusory and impermanent. This is the third one.

The fourth is the illusion of the Yin.If sentient beings want to have some functions in this world, they must have their own body, their oral behavior, and their intentional behavior;These behaviors are either oral behaviors or mind behaviors, and their behaviors and processes are the behaviors and processes.However, this Yin of the Yin is also false. What you do, say, or think today will become completely false and impermanent tomorrow, even the day after tomorrow, or even a year or a hundred years later.Therefore, whether these yin and behaviors are physical actions, actual movements of the body, what the mouth says, or the thoughts in the mind, they are all impermanent and false.

The last one is the illusion of consciousness.The illusion of consciousness yin represents the six consciousnesses, that is, the consciousness of the first five consciousnesses and the sixth consciousness. What these consciousnesses think today or what they have found today will become false and impermanent tomorrow and the future.

In short, the five yin are the form yin and the four yin of feeling, thinking, action, and consciousness, which are all false and impermanent.The color yin in front is the actual object, and the feeling, thought, action, and consciousness yin behind is the seeing, hearing, feeling and awareness;Whether it is the body, or the sentient beings produced by this body, the body, the body, see, hear, and sense, are all false and impermanent.The body is at most a hundred years old. When you see, hear, feel, and know, you will disappear after falling asleep every day, and it will be even more impermanent. Therefore, the impermanence of these five aggregates is something we can observe now.Therefore, everyone should not be attached to the impermanence of the five aggregates, and do not mistake it for this to be an eternal and immortal Dharma.
