我们先来看流通本的经文：“Tuesday”这段经文的意思是说在世的人如果为去世的眷属塑画地藏形像，乃至闻名瞻礼，这此功德会让这些去世的眷属感得极大的利益。经文分两种情况开示的。一是，此人已去世的眷属，如果是因为在世时的恶业因缘而堕在三恶道中，经无数劫都难以出离的，承蒙在世的男女、兄弟、姊妹塑画地藏形像及瞻礼的功德，立即解脱，生人天中受殊胜的妙乐。二是，此人已去世的眷属，如果是因为自己在世时修福修善有善根福报力而已经得以生人天中在受殊胜妙乐的，那么会承蒙在世的男女、兄弟、姊妹塑画地藏形像及瞻礼的功德，增进圣因，受无量乐。这是流通本多十六字所表述意思。

大藏经本少十六字又是表述的什么意思呢？大藏经本经文：“Chapter 2, Section 7” 经文也是分两种情况开示的。一是，此人已去世的眷属，如果是因为在世时的恶业因缘而堕在三恶道中，经无数劫都难以出离的，承蒙在世的男女、兄弟、姊妹塑画地藏形像及瞻礼的功德，立即解脱。此处经文虽没有流通本“生人天中受胜妙乐”等句，但从三恶道解脱，不就是生人天中受殊胜的妙乐么？二是，此人已去世的眷属，如果已经得以生人天中在受殊胜妙乐的，则会承蒙在世的男女、兄弟、姊妹塑画地藏形像及瞻礼的功德，增进了圣因，受无量乐。此处经文虽没有流通本“如有福力”等句，但“生人天中”就表明了其在世时是有“福力”的。没有福力怎么可以得生人天呢？

一般都是持流通本者毁谤大藏经本，而持大藏经本者很少有毁谤流通本的。只要执念一起，必高筑谤台。又有说是受过菩萨的指示要持流通本。菩萨化度遍行善巧方便，见您与流通本有缘便指示持流通本，见他人与大藏经本有缘亦为其指示持大藏经本。若执以流通本为据去毁谤大藏经本则是辜负了菩萨的悲心啊！况现今流通本又不止一个本子。

印光大师云：“此经二卷十三品，唐实叉难陀所译。从前虽有法灯、法炬所译之本，自莲池大师主张实叉之本之后，法灯之本便不流通。即实叉之本又有二卷三卷之别，人多疑之。须知二卷系藏本，三卷系流通本。藏本上卷六品，下卷七品。流通本上卷四品，中卷五品，下卷四品。卷虽不同，经文无异。但传布既久，间有字句稍异者，Believe in yourself: There is reason to be believed.。”
