If you can treat others with loyalty and forgiveness everywhere, you will not be too far away from the Tao

“Confucius said: The way is not far away from people. People are the way and far away from people, and they cannot be the way. ”

Confucius said:Tao is not far away from people. If people think it is a matter that is too far from real life, then it is a pity that you cannot practice Tao for Tao!

“《The poem says: If you attack the Ke, you will attack the Ke, and it will not be far away. ”This is the verse of the second chapter of "Bin Feng·Fa Ke" cited by Confucius in "The Book of Songs·National Style". Its meaning is that you want to cut a tree trunk, just cut it! As long as you aim at the trunk, aim at the part, and cut it down in one go. “Hold the tree to attack the tree, look at it, and think it is far away." If you are too careful, hold the tree trunk in your hand, squint your eyes carefully, and look at it again and again, it will become more and more difficult to start.

“Therefore, a gentleman governs others by others and stops by others. Loyalty and forgiveness are not far away from the way. If you do not want to do to others, don’t do to others. ” soThere is no other special way to learn how to be a gentleman. You have to know that I am a person and others are also a person. If I am wrong, I will correct myself.


To do your best to others is called loyalty. Being able to forgive and tolerate others is called forgiveness. If you can treat others with loyalty and forgiveness everywhere, you will not be too far from the Tao. In other words: as long as you feel that it is unwilling to accept it when you do this and say it to me, then you should not add it to others as it does. This sentence is also recorded in the Analects of Confucius, "Do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you" are two records of the same meaning.

If you understand the principle of walking in a normal position, you will be happy without any progress.

“A gentleman acts in his position and does not want to be outsiders." If you really want to learn to be a gentleman, as long as you are simple and down-to-earth in your own position, you will never be willing to be influenced and tempted by the outside world and change your original wishes.

“All wealth and honor are about wealth and honor, all poverty and humbleness are about poverty and humbleness, all barbarians are about barbarians, and all difficulties are about hardships. A gentleman is not satisfied without entering. ” If you were born in a wealthy environment, then do it according to the conditions of wealthyness and don’t have to pretend to be ordinary. If you are originally poor and humble, then you should live a poor and humble life honestly, and you don’t need to have a sense of inferiority, deliberately pretending to be noble. If you are originally a barbarian, with a low level of cultural level, or you are now living in a barbarian environment with a low level, then you should be a good person among barbarians according to the barbarian customs. If you are in trouble now, you can only come from the environment in trouble and wait for liberation. If you blame others because of difficulties, it will increase the pain in difficulties and make it more difficult to get rid of them.


If you can fully understand the principle of being in a good position, which is what modern people say, can adapt to the environment anytime and anywhere, then you will be happy without going.Of course, being content with ease is subjective. Assuming that it is the happiness given to you by others, it is objective and not comfortable. Because others can also cancel your happiness.


“If you are in the upper throne, you will not support you in the lower throne, and you will not seek others' attention, you will have no complaints. The superiors do not blame the heavens, and the inferiors do not criticize others. Therefore, a gentleman lives in a convenient place to wait for his fate, while a villain takes risks to bring good luck. ”If you understand the principle of acting in a good position, although your status and power are high today, you will never underestimate or insult the person below you. Because there are always times when you step down, there is no high position in the world that will last forever. If you are at a lower level, you don’t have to cling to your superiors. You just have to do your best to do your part within your responsibilities. “If you are upright and not seek others, you will be calm and contented, and there is nothing to be resentful. If a person can do not blame the sky above and the bottom of others, he will be very comfortable. “Therefore, a gentleman lives in the Easy to wait for his fate, and a villain takes risks to be blessed. Therefore, we must learn the principles of being a gentleman, know the principle of doing things in a natural position, and live a life as stated in the Book of Changes. We will be a person with sincerity and will change reality with time and space, and wait for the fate of natural opportunities. Even if we do not meet the time, we can enjoy ourselves. However, generally, villains who do not learn the way of a gentleman would rather take risks by chance and hope to succeed by chance, but the result would be more than worth the loss. This is just as the ancients said that there are two poems about the "Qiqiao Festival" on the seventh day of the lunar calendar: "I beg for the cleverness of the world every year, but I don't know how many clevernesses of the world are. ”It is unconventional to achieve tricky results by luck, and it is very unreliable.


The above mentioned Confucius's words "A gentleman acts in his position and does not want to be outside" and "a gentleman lives in a convenient position to wait for his fate, while a villain takes risks to be blessed." A while ago, someone asked me: Confucius advocated that people should do their duty and should not take risks to do things outside the scope of their duty. The disadvantages of this kind of education are also the fatal lack of our national nature. We see that most people now only care about parochialism when doing things, but instead think that "doing more mistakes, doing less mistakes, and not doing well" is right. Isn't this the disadvantage of "doing in a natural position"?

I said: If Confucius' "going in a simple position" and the principle of success without seeking luck as only caring about the selfish role of parochialism, it would be a big deviation and misunderstanding. At the same time, I also forgot the key point that Confucius pointed out to "stay for life and wait for fate". What he said is the principle of "going in a simple position", The center of gravity is to pay attention to a word.As we all know, Confucius only focused on studying the "Book of Changes", the first book of traditional culture after he was over fifty years old. The great rules of the "Book of Changes" tell us the laws of the universe's physics and human affairs, which are in variables anytime and anywhere, changing, changing, changing internally, and changing externally. There is no eternal thing in the world. It is equivalent to the Buddha saying that "all dharmas are impermanent" is the same principle. But in the middle of change, there are inevitable numbers that will change or not, and the phenomenon before and after change. For example, from one to two, ten, and hundreds, minute to one second, step to section, different scenes appear. Because of this principle, if it is most important for personnel, you must know how to grasp the time suitable for variables and where you stand. If you are not in the right time, in the right position, or in the right time, in the right position, you have to force yourself to do it, hoping to get it by chance, and you will be overwhelmed by the operation of time and changes in space. If you want to get the position, it is impossible for you to do it.

Therefore, Confucius went to see Lao Tzu in his early years, and Lao Tzu told him: "A gentleman will be in the right time, but if he cannot, he will be exhausted and tired. ”He had already clearly told Confucius that although you have great wishes and want to save people by peace of mind, this situation is not suitable for you, and there is no way to be able to do so in the right time and position. Later, Mencius finally understood this truth, so he said “Even if you have wisdom, it is better to take advantage of the situation. Even though there is a base, it is better to wait” famous quote.
