The ultimate goal of practicing the Bodhisattva Path is to benefit others, and achieving the benefit of others is also the ultimate goal of all Mahayana Bodhisattvas;Even if Bodhisattvas vow to become Buddhas, their motivation for becoming Buddhas is to benefit others. We can say that Bodhisattvas have nothing to ask for, but seek to benefit others.
Therefore, it is said that those brave Bodhisattvas are happy even in the samsara. Why?Because altruism is their only desire, and being in reincarnation can be the most effective altruism.
Since living in the samsara can achieve their only goal, why don’t Bodhisattvas do it?Therefore, it is said that for brave Bodhisattvas, reincarnation can be happy and not sad at all.
For this reason, many Bodhisattvas deliberately constantly reincarnate in the samsara in order to obtain many direct opportunities for altruism;Even though they are in the cycle of reincarnation, they are still happy.
This possibility of being happy in reincarnation comes from the practice of compassion and bodhicitta. Therefore, if we practice the same way, we will be happy in this life and in the samsara of reincarnation.
We may ask: Why do Bodhisattvas are so keen on altruism? Why do they only seek the perfect and omniscient Buddhahood, and their only motivation for becoming a Buddha is to benefit others?
After all, it is possible that they can enter Nirvana through the enlightenment of emptiness and be liberated from the samsara and suffering without experiencing bodhicitta, and not seeking omniscient Buddhahood.
But why don't they do this?Indeed, without experiencing the bodhicitta, they can achieve personal nirvana and transcend pain through the enlightenment of emptiness.
However, this is only their own liberation, and in doing so, they have completely abandoned any efforts to aid the infinite sentient beings who are still addicted to the sea of reincarnation.
As for Mahayana Buddhism and as a Bodhisattva, no matter what, this is at least inappropriate.Because according to Mahayana Buddhism, all sentient beings have given us infinite kindness in countless ways without exception since time immemorial.
From this point of view, we can clearly see that it is completely inappropriate and even unjust to abandon sentient beings in the possible endless suffering. Therefore, if we want to obtain moral liberation and nirvana, we must assume the responsibility of benefiting others.
Furthermore, the reason for achieving omniscient Buddhahood in order to benefit others is that the number of sentient beings is vast and immeasurable, and each sentient being has some differences from other sentient beings, with different ways of thinking, different hopes, different compositions, etc.
In this step, the number of sentient beings is everywhere in the universe, and the number of sentient beings is incalculable. For example, we now believe that there are billions of galaxies in the universe, and similarly, the number of sentient beings is too numerous to be conceived.
“The word "unthinkable" has many practical uses. When we have to talk about a large number of words, but really don’t know how big it is, we can say for granted: “Ah!The number is too large to be conceivable.”
In order to influence and benefit all sentient beings, we must have omniscience that only Buddha can have, because the omniscience of Buddha can indeed know everything, know the needs, habits, and composition of every sentient being to benefit.
Only the wisdom of omniscient can fulfill the prayers of every sentient being;Only the wisdom of omniscient can one perform a cause that is as vast as the universe and tolerate all things. Without the ability to know everything, one will absolutely not be able to do all these things. This is why Bodhisattvas seek to obtain Buddhahood.
