Basics of Buddhism

To develop the Bodhicitta, you cannot ask for others for yourself. All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are like this. To develop the Bodhicitta, the Bodhicitta is the mind to achieve enlightenment, the mind that is for all sentient beings but not for themselves, and ultimately the mind that perfects the Buddha's path. It is impossible to do without Bodhicitta.All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas must experience their own achievements in their practice, and then, the process of walking the Bodhisattva path to serve all sentient beings, and only then can you complete all sentient beings by yourself. This is a must, this is the process of bodhicitta.Some time ago, when we were volunteering in Datong for seven years, we had learned a lot of Bodhicitta.But then I felt that the opportunity was insufficient and the level was not enough, so I changed the Volunteer Seven to Study Seven, and Bodhicitta. I didn’t say much about it later, but I had actually learned it.When we study Master Daozheng's "Achieve Bodhicitta", Master Sheng'an's "Achieve Bodhicitta Text", and the "Pure Practice Chapter" of the "Avatamsaka Sutra" are all bodhicitta. We learn how to transform our minds from a selfish mind to the hearts of sentient beings at a higher level. We do this.I will tell you how to do it over and over again, transform yourself from selfishness to others. This is the difference between Hinayana and Mahayana. It is a turning point and very important.Then with this foundation, we can turn things around.Nowadays, many people are busy working every day and developing bodhicitta, but what they do is ineffective, or they do it badly and cannot continue.Why?There is no previous self-correction process, and it is not done well.So I think the first two have forgotten to say just now that after we have positive insights and diligent learning, we must initially meet a standard, which is the eight items mentioned by our "Tao Feng".First of all, you need to "touch softness". After half of the work, you are still very hard. Going out and offend everyone. This is wrong. If you don't have enough skill, "touch softness" means ours."Revise softness" and then "be humble", do you do something that makes people happy after doing it? After doing it for a long time, the more you do it, the more you offend people, and become enemies, relatives and creditors. If you are troublesome, it is better not to do it.Therefore, after the previous positive views and diligent learning, I think we must basically achieve the following: "tenderness, humility, tolerance, follow the circumstances, purity, equality, honesty, and real work".Why do you still have to be "working honestly"? If you don't have the fate, you can't achieve it. You still have to practice. In the end, you have to practice countless things. You can't say that you have started working, you don't do anything, and you won't practice anymore.This is consistent with what the Buddha said in the "Buddha's Last Teachings". For example, the Buddha said before, "The precepts of various lifestyles, and finally gained concentration and wisdom." The Buddha said, "What are you doing, and what are you doing in the end?" Stay and practice diligently.Because you still have to practice before you work. Even if you say Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Bodhisattvas still have to practice, it doesn’t mean that you only work, it’s not.It cannot be said that I just go to save sentient beings, my knowledge and insights are not good, and I have no skills. After that, I am still lying there and saying that I am saving others. This seems a bit wrong, not too right, I must change this way.This is what I think the element proposed by our "daofeng" at that time has reached a preliminary stage.Then after we have this, we can start to develop the Bodhicitta to do some work and try to do something.This is something of bodhicitta.Once you develop the Bodhicitta, you will become a Buddha if you follow this path.It is very important. If you do not develop the Bodhicitta, but just practice for yourself, you cannot become a Buddha. No matter how you become a Buddha, you must transform and serve sentient beings. This is very important.
