Unhelpful prayers
A young man named Gamini came to visit Shakyamuni Buddha.
He asked, "Buddha! If a person does something bad, can he be happy if he prays to God?"
The Buddha did not answer his question directly, but asked, "If you throw a big stone into the river and you pray to God, will it float?"
Gamini shook his head and replied, "No, Buddha!"
The Buddha said, "If a person creates bad karma, even if he prays to God, he will never be happy, because the bad karma will definitely fall."
The Buddha asked Gamini again, "If you pour oil into a river and you pray to God, will it sink?"
"No, Buddha!"
The Buddha then said, "Therefore, if a person creates good karma, even if you pray to God, it is absolutely impossible for him to fall, because good karma will definitely rise."
Ghosts and gods can know people's lifespan and misfortune, but they cannot make any changes, let alone dominate people's wealth and poverty, but they can make people create evil and kill.
