Lunba is a young seeker who is confused by the vivid but unexplainable inequality that exists in the world. He came to the Buddha and asked this question to the Buddha.
“World Honored One, among human sentiments, we find that some people live long, some people have short lives; some people are plagued by illness, some people are healthy and healthy; some are ugly, some are beautiful; some are weak, some are strong and strong; some are poor, some are rich in families; some are lowly, some are noble in birth; some are ignorant, and some are smartwisdom; What's thiscause?”
The Buddha replied: "All sentient beings have their own karma, and karma is the result of their birth, karma is the basis of their relatives, and karma is the refuge.Feeling affectionateAll living beingsThe high and low are divided by one's own career.”
Then, he explained the differences between them according to the law of cause and effect.
If any sentient being hurts life and makes a living by hunting, his hands are covered with blood, he engages in killing and harms sentient beings, and when he gains his human body again, he will suffer a short life due to the retribution of killing.
If any sentient beings stay away from killing, put down their butcher's knife, be compassionate to all sentient beings, and then gain a human body, they will gain longevity by abstaining from killing.
If any sentient beings are accustomed to harming others with fists, tiles, sticks, and swords, and when they get human body, they will be plagued by all kinds of diseases, this is the reward of damage.
If sentient beings have the habit of harming others and they will enjoy the joy of health when they obtain the human body, this is harmless reward. If any sentient beings are irritable and angry, often angry and angry by insignificant words and are angry and resentful, and when they are caught in human body, their faces will be ferocious, this is the retribution for irritability.
If there are sentient beings who are not angry or angry, are not angry at the sound of slander, and have no malicious resentment, and when they are gained from human body, they are solemn in appearance, this is the reward of kindness.
If sentient beings become jealous and cannot stand the success, honor and respect of others, and hide jealousy in their hearts, and become weak when they get the human body, this is the reward of jealousy.
If there are sentient beings who are open-minded and not jealous of others' acquisitions,RejoiceThe respect and honor received by others is not jealous. When you get a human body, you will be full of energy and strong. This is no reward for jealousy.
If there are all sentient beings who do not do good deedsGive,When you get a human body again, you are poor and destitute, and this is the reward of greed.
If sentient beings are willing to give good things and give good things, and when they gain a human body, they will be rich and full of family. This is the reward for giving good things.
If there are people who are stubborn, arrogant, and disrespectful, and are born in a lowly family when they are born in a lowly family when they are stubborn, this is the reward of their arrogance and no respect.
If there are sentient beings who always obey sentient beings, treat others humbly, respect those who should respect them, and be born in a noble family when they are born in a noble family, this is the reward for humility and respect.
If there are sentient beings who do not seek to know what good or evil, right or wrong, they do not seek to know. You should practice not, you should do not do it. What is the matter of self-interest and self-destruction? When you are ignorant in life, you are not good at seeking good learning.
If sentient beings are close to good teachers and good virtues, and are good at studying from them, and when they obtain human body, their wisdom will be perfect, this is the reward for their desire to study.
As for the correspondence between these behaviors and their consequences, readers may become interested in the following passage by Dr. Gem.
“All of these have shown a law of affinity. At the moment of death, this law of affinity is used as a regulatory system to seize a new bacterial body.Anyone who loses compassion and kills humans and livestock has a tendency to shorten life deep in his heart. He is satisfied with shortening other sentient beings' lives and even gets happiness from it.The bacteria in short-lived life have the sameness. After the end of their life, when they acquire another bacteria, it is this identity that causes harm to themselves.Similarly, this bacteria itself has the ability to evolve into a broken form, and finds a kind of affinity in those who are willing to cruelly treat and destroy and harm other sentient beings.”
“People with ugly appearances have an ugly shape and affinity of various bacteria.Just as the characteristics of anger make a person's face ugly.”
“A jealous and arrogant person has the habit of not wanting to give charity to others and underestimating others. Therefore, bacteria destined to evolve into poverty and degenerate into difficulties have affinity between the two.”
“Of course, it is precisely for the above reasons that gender changes are possible.”
《In the 21st Sutra of the Long Chapter, it says that Jopiho was originally a daughter of the Sakyamuni tribe. After her death, she was named Jopiko. Because she had the idea of misogyny, she developed a male idea in her heart.
Of course, we are born with a hereditary character, and at the same time, we have an inherent functional power that is powerless by science. We come from our parents, and they are the combination of sperm and egg cells to form the core part of the so-called human body. This core part is in a latent state until a combination with potential developmental abilities receives the necessary karma to produce the embryo. Therefore, the power of karma is an indispensable factor for sentient beings when they are pregnant.
The karma stream formed over the years of life carries over all experiences in the previous life, and sometimes plays a greater role than the genetic cells of parents in the construction of physical and mental character.
Like others, the Buddha had inherited his parents' regenerated cells and genes, but among his long-standing and glorious ancestors, no one can compare with his appearance, morality, or wisdom. The Buddha himself once said that he is not a descendant of a royal family, but belongs to the noble Buddha family. He is a veritable saint who has created himself incredible with his karma.
According to the "Thirty-Two Faces Sutra", the Buddha is solemn and has the appearance of thirty-two great men. These are countless of his pastMeritRetribution. This sutra explains the merits and causes of his gains such appearance in an orderly and rational manner.
From this unique example, we can clearly see that the flow of karma can not only affect our physical organs, but also make the potential power of our parents' cells and genes useless. Therefore, the Buddha said, “We are the successors of our respective karma."This word has profound meaning and infinite mystery.
As for these unpredictable issues, the "Extraordinary Treatise" writes: "Depending on different karma, sentient beings are born different from the high and low, noble and low, and bitter and happy; different karma, the ugly and beautiful personal ugliness of sentient beings, the height of their figure, the handsomeness and deformity of their appearance; different karma, the gains and losses, good and evil, praise and joy of sentient beings are born different from the gains and losses, good and evil, praise and joy of sentient beings. The world of karma changes, the living beings of karma dwell on karma, and the bondage of sentient beings is like a spoke attached to a wheel.Receive honors based on karma, be bound by karma, be damaged by karma, and be abused by karma.Knowing the causes and effects of karma, how can we say that there is no karma in the world?”
Therefore, from the perspective of Buddhism, the differences in our current spirit, morality, intelligence and temperament are largely due to our own past and present behaviors and habits.
