The five powers can allow us to practice Bodhisattva practice throughout our lives, namely willpower, skillful power, good seed power, repulsion power and vow power.

The first is willpower.If you are determined to maintain the two levels of worldly and ultimate bodhicitta, the practitioner should always have the attitude of maintaining the bodhicitta - this life, this year, this month, and today.Willpower means not to waste time, and it also emphasizes that you are one with your practice.

Practice is the way to strengthen yourself. Sometimes when you wake up in the morning, especially if you stay up late or attend a party last night, you will feel very weak and a little confused. It is very likely that you still have a hangover when you get up, so you feel guilty. You want to know if you lose your composure last night, if you do ridiculous things, you want to know what others think, and you start to be afraid that others may have lost their respect for you, or prove that you are weak-willed. You will think about everything and worry.

The first force means that when you open your eyes and look out the window, you will once again affirm your strong willpower in order to continue to practice bodhicitta. You do the same when you lie down at night and think about the day’s work, problems, setbacks, happiness and all the good and bad things that happened. When you fall asleep, you should think with strong willpower: when you wake up in the morning, you should maintain your practice with a lasting diligence. Therefore, you are looking forward to tomorrow's arrival ; When you wake up early in the morning, you will expect the day to unfold.

Willpower is the development of a heart that is almost loving for practice. You want to sleep with your lover ; You yearn very much and want to wake up with your lover. You are grateful and happy. Therefore, practice will not turn into torture or pain, or into a cage. On the contrary, practice becomes a way to cheer you up.

Practicing may require some degree of diligence, and you need to push yourself, but you have already developed a diligence, so you are very happy to get up in the morning and go to bed at night. Even sleep becomes valuable, so you fall asleep with a good attitude. What we are talking about here is to wake up the nature of the original good and Alaya, and to understand that one is in the right position and practice the correct method. Therefore, willpower is joyful.

The second is proficiency.Because you develop strong willpower, everything becomes natural progress. Even if you occasionally forget your mindfulness, even if you are distracted or forget to be aware, the situation itself will remind you to go back to practice. In this skillful process, your subconscious Buddhist awareness gradually becomes stronger than ordinary casual chat. No matter what you do, whether it is good, evil, or ignorance, Bodhicitta has become a familiar base. Therefore, you gradually get used to Bodhicitta and continue to realize enlightenment.

You can compare the skillful process to being in love. When someone mentions your lover's name, you feel bitter and joyful. Your lover's name and anything related to him will shock you. Similarly, when the concept of selflessness has developed in your mind, the meditation and contemplation will naturally shine into the Dharma.

You make yourself familiar with Buddhism. In other words, you no longer regard Buddhism as an external object, but begin to understand that Buddhism is the thoughts, words and activities within the body. Whenever you open a bottle, open a can of Coca-Cola, or pour a glass of water, whatever you do becomes a reminder. You can't get rid of it, it becomes a natural situation.

It is difficult for many people to learn to live with a clear mind at the beginning. However, once you begin to understand that a clear mind is part of life, there should be no problem. Of course, you occasionally want to take a break, you want to escape, take a vacation, don't always be so clear-headed, you want to do other things ; However, your basic spiritual power begins to become stronger, so your evil thoughts or confusions become awakened mindfulness, enlightenment, and familiarity.

The third is the power of goodness.You have always been very eager to become a Buddha, so you will not leave the state of awakening. This basically means that practice is endless and continuous - you are still not satisfied with your practice, so you don’t rest. You don’t feel that you have practiced enough, nor do you feel that you have to do other things.

At this time, your attachment to personal freedom and rights may arise. You might start thinking, “I have the right to do whatever I want and I want to dive into the bottom of hell. I love this and that! ”You might have that reaction. But you should pull yourself back from the bottom of hell to the top - for yourself. You should understand that you can't just let fear cause you. At this time, "goodness" means that your body, speech, and mind will try your best to increase your bodhicitta.

The fourth is repulsive force.Refute your self. This is a disgust of life and death. Whenever any self-centered thought arises, you should think like this: “Because I am so attached to myself, I will flow through life and death and suffer endless suffering. Because ego is the source of pain, if I try to maintain myself, there will be no happiness. Therefore, I must try my best to subdue myself. ”If you want to remind yourself, you should say that.

In fact, sometimes talking to oneself is highly respected. Here, I encourage you to say this to yourself: “You have caused me a lot of trouble and I don’t like you. You let me flow in the next three ways, causing me a lot of trouble, I don’t want to deal with you at all, I will destroy you. Whoever this "you" is, go away! I don't like you. ”

It is very beneficial to talk to yourself and refute yourself like that. It is valuable to talk to yourself like this when taking a bath ; It's nice to sit on the toilet and talk to yourself like that. It is very good to remind yourself when driving ; You don't have to turn on Punk Rock, but start to slander yourself and talk to yourself ; If you have companions on your side, you may feel embarrassed, but you can still whisper to yourself. That is the best way to become a weird and abnormal bodhisattva.

The fifth is the power of vows. Every time a practitioner gets off his seat, he should make a vow:

1、Save all sentient beings alone;

2、Don't forget the second level of bodhicitta, even in a dream;

3、Even if you are in chaos or obstacles, you must apply Bodhicitta. You have already had experience in the joy of Dharma, so you will not feel that making a vow is a burden.

Therefore, your wishes are becoming more and more broad. You want to achieve enlightenment, to get rid of ignorance, and to serve all "mother sentient beings" at all times and in all places. You want to be a rock, a bridge or a road.

You are willing to devote yourself to any valuable goal to help the rest of you. This is like the basic wish you make when taking the Bodhisattva precepts, and it is also the common Dharma that makes you very soft. In this way, the rest of the sentient beings in the world can use you as a base of practice to obtain joy in the Dharma.
