The Tree God said: Master Xuanhua can hear the sutras in the entire universe and in the Dharma Realm!

One night, the monk Miaofa was preaching the "Ksitigarbha Sutra" to lay Buddhists in a place in Henan. When he said, "If any sentient beings steal permanent property, grain, food, clothes, or even one thing without taking it, they will fall into the Avici Hell for thousands of billions of kalpas, and seeking a life without avail."

The old monk said, "What does it mean to be "not a thing with the one who takes it away?" It means that any items in the temple, including every grass and a tree, that are privately taken away without the consent of the permanent residence of the temple. Such a person should fall into the Abyssin's Hell.”

At this time, a female lay Buddhist in her 40s suddenly asked nervously: "I have a good relationship with the abbot of a certain temple. I have been supporting her for more than ten years and get along very casually. Sometimes when I go to her abbot's room and she is not here, I will be like at home. If I see any rosary or small Buddha statues I like, I will put it in my pocket. Anyway, it is also offered by others. The abbot will send her to others to make a relationship sooner or later. Since I and the abbot are so good, of course, I will get the moon first!Is this considered stealing?”

The monk Miao Pharaoh replied: "You do not have subjective thoughts of stealing, but these things are not what the abbot promised to you. If you don't take them with them, what are your actions?"

The female layman seemed very nervous and said, "There were a few very beautiful flowers in the flower pond in the temple last year. I had long wanted to take a few of them home to plant them when the flowers bear seeds. But when I wanted to find the seeds, the seeds of the flowers were taken away by someone. When I put the seeds in my pocket, I thought that there would be no such flowers in the flower pond next year.Is it considered stealing to take this flower seed?"


The old monk asked her with a smile: "What do you think? But you don't have to be nervous and afraid. You have read the "Ksitigarbha Sutra" many times, but you don't understand the scriptures and have no wisdom, so you commit sins.But it is also the reason why you recite the scriptures that you understand the truth today, "The great sins are eliminated by repentance."You must repent in front of the Buddha and never commit any more.

If there are any things you take, return them to the abbot and admit your mistake in person.As for flower seeds, when they are planted again, they may plant more for the temple, and even offer some other flowers to the temple, all sins will be eliminated. If you can talk more about these principles among fellow Taoists, it will be of immeasurable merits!”

The old monk's words calmed the layman's heart.

The old monk then gave a lecture: "We recite scriptures first to understand the truth.If you understand the truth, you will have wisdom, and you will know that all the sufferings you encounter are caused by the past causes, so you should eliminate the evil causes as soon as possible and not plant new evil seeds.

The rest is to rely on one's own diligence to recite the Buddha's name and repent, and dedicate the merits of reciting the Buddha's name to sentient beings in the Dharma Realm, so that the evil seeds that have not yet sprouted in the past can gradually wither and die.

To achieve this goal, one must be a good man and a good woman who keeps the Five Precepts and practices the Ten Virtues.Only good men and women recite scriptures and Buddha to dedicate them to sentient beings will have great merits.Why?

Because when you think of "Namo Amitabha" and "Namo Avalokitesvara" with pure body, mouth and mind, you not only show that you are sincere in your favor and sincere in your favor, but also serve the purpose of calling on sentient beings to convert to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.Your sincerity will immediately communicate with the Buddha, and the Buddha's light will shine on you.”

Many people chanting the Buddha's name asked me, saying that when he chanted the Buddha's name, he would feel numb and hot from head to toe. What's going on? I said that the Buddha sensed that you were chanting his name, radiating light to you, and helping you eliminate your past sins.

At this time, there will be many sentient beings such as celestial immortals, earth gods, hungry ghosts, wandering souls, etc. in the sky and underground around you that you cannot see. When you see the special response of chanting the Buddha's name, you will also chant the Buddha's name together. While they chant the Buddha's name, they will immediately receive the blessing of the Buddha's power to sublimate and liberate.

For example, those who are killed by blowing, chopping and chopping by axe, wandering souls with incomplete limbs, those lonely ghosts who drowned, hanged, poisoned, and car accidents, etc., those who cannot be reincarnated or have to wait for a year to find a substitute in the same industry to be reincarnated. As long as you recite the Buddha's name, your limbs will be restored immediately, and the longer you recite the Buddha's name, the greater the benefits.

Maybe the benefits were hundreds, thousands, or thousands, or the benefits of countless sentient beings, including the flowers, plants, trees, animals around you.The amount of benefits to sentient beings depends on the depth of your practice.

For example, in 1994, I saw a big banyan tree in the front yard of Puji Temple in Putuo Mountain suddenly turned into a human form. Hu knelt down and asked me to tell it what "no suffering, accumulation, extinction and path" means in the Heart Sutra.I asked it, "Where did you hear the Heart Sutra?" It said, "Master Xuanhua, the holy city of ten thousand Buddhas in the United States, just finished speaking the Heart Sutra, but I don't understand the saying "no suffering, accumulation, extinction, and path". I ask the old monk for advice.”

I asked, "Mr. Xuan is preaching in the United States, how could you hear it in Putuo Mountain?"The big banyan tree said: "Master Xuanhua preached the scriptures and could hear them all in the universe and the Dharma Realm.。”


We do not have the merits and magic powers of Master Xuanhua, but around you, or in the cities and towns where you live, all sentient beings in heaven and earth benefit from chanting Buddha's name and scriptures.

Therefore, those who recite the Buddha's name must keep the precepts and purify their body, speech and mind. Then, you will not only benefit you, but also benefit sentient beings. The merit will naturally be great, which is enough to eliminate your sins for many lifetimes and kalpas. Reciting the Buddha's name and sutra every day "get infinite blessings and eliminate infinite sins."

《In the Ksitigarbha Sutra, the God of the Earth said to the World Honored One:

“I look at the future and present sentient beings, in their residences, in the clean places in the south, and use earth, diamond, bamboo and wood as their niches. They can make paintings in the middle, and even gold, silver, copper and iron as images of Ksitigarbha, burn incense and offer sacrifices, and admire them.It is a place where people live, and you will get ten kinds of benefits。

What are ten? One is the land abundant;Second, the family will be safe forever;Third, the deceased will be born in heaven first;Fourth, the current life will be long;Five, what you want is fulfilled;Sixth, no water and fire;Seventh, waste is eliminated;Eight, eliminate nightmares;Nine means to protect the gods;Ten people will encounter many holy causes..."

The scriptures say it very clearly.You can gain ten benefits by offering to Buddha statues，Just imagine, if this person who offers Buddha statues and admires Buddha, is unfilial to his parents, constantly kills and eats flesh, and talks badly every day, he can obtain "eternal peace", "longevity", "successful intention", and "will he protect him in and out of the gods"?

But "experience of the holy cause" is certain, because although you offer sacrifices to the Buddha, you do not understand the truth. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will guide you to listen to the Dharma. Just like today, a few of you have stopped eating the meat. Please raise your hands.

(Only three of the dozens raised their hands.Only one of them died of meat after becoming a Buddhist, the other just did not eat pork, beef, mutton, and seafood. Another one was "vegetarian" and did not know that onion, garlic, and leeks could not be eaten. )

The old monk said: "Please follow the above talk about precepts, chant Buddha's name, and chant the Ksitigarbha Sutra, and persevere. You don't need to seek Buddha, but see if your illness will be relieved or healed, and whether your wish can be realized.But be careful that your wishes must not harm the interests of the country and others.

The scriptures say:‘If there are good men and women in the future, they want to seek hundreds of thousands of billions of wishes and hundreds of millions of billions of things in the future, but they should take refuge and offer sacrifices and praise the image of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. All of them will be accomplished if they wish and seek.。’”

Buddha is the one who speaks the truth, the one who speaks the truth, and the one who does not speak lies. I hope that all fellow practitioners will carefully study the "Ksitigarbha Sutra" and benefit from the Dharma in practice.

The final verse of the monk Miaofa is as the conclusion:

The wonderful Dharma that Buddha has not traveled far away in his mind must be sought in the sutra
Good medicines are used between the lines to cure 84,000 worries
