For Buddhism, for sentient beings, for yourself

Recently, I recalled that I wasted half of my life, not only did not contribute to Buddhism, but also did not benefit any sentient beings, let alone save myself. I am really ashamed of the Buddha, sentient beings and me in this life.

As a monk, you should think about what you can do for Buddhism? It is running a school, spreading the Dharma, protecting, circulation, and practicing.Nowadays, many eminent monks and nuns have done a lot of great things for Buddhism, such as the great Buddhist scripture of Master Yinshun, the monk education run by Master Xingyun and Elder Shengyan, and the Tzu Chi merits and great love spread to the world. These are all worth learning from our younger generations.

1. What can you do for Buddhism

On the other hand, I can only talk nonsense and twitch around, which is useless. So what should we do for Buddhism? I found that most scholars are studying either a sutra or a treatise; either a sect or a method; or a ancestor or a monk.Few people study the thoughts of Buddha, which leads to Buddhists who are studying Buddhism tend to learn from the ancestors. Which sect does not really explain the Dharma and original intentions that the Buddha said.

Maybe everyone will ask? Even if you want to explore the Dharma principles of the Buddha, you are powerless and beyond your reach, because the Buddha's Dharma is unattainable and unfathomable. As the Lotus Sutra says, "The wisdom of all Buddhas is profound and infinite, and their wisdom is difficult to understand and enter, and all the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas cannot know."Therefore, it is said: "The Buddha has achieved the most rare and difficult method, only Buddha and Buddha can study the true reality of all dharmas."So I dare not explore the Buddha's thoughts.

But you should not not explore the truth because of this. It is like not daring to climb high mountains and not willing to walk far away. You should have the spirit and cognition that you can reach the mountains and climb for a long time and walk for a long time.Although I am a foolish ordinary person, I want to explore the thoughts of Buddha with respect and beg the Buddha to help me understand the true meaning of Tathagata. This is one thing I can do for Buddhism.

2. What can you do for sentient beings

Speech the Dharma that you know briefly to the public truth.Do not seek fame, fortune and support the public with no desire; do not praise and destroy others, and persevere in spreading the Dharma without regrets.

If sentient beings have suffering, help them resolve suffering; if sentient beings have doubts, help them resolve doubts; if sentient beings have doubts, help them resolve doubts; if sentient beings have requests, help them solve doubts.Make great connections with Dharma and benefit all living beings.

3. What can you do for yourself

Evil is not eliminated, good is not born, faith is not firm, wish is not issued, and practice is not done.Only by making yourself a person who benefits sentient beings can one be worthy of oneself, the masses and the Three Jewels.
