The benefits that true altruism brings to oneself are very great.Even if you have the intention to say, "I want to be nice to him, I want to benefit him", it will bring incredible benefits to yourself.Let me share three cases with you:

The first case: A mother and daughter cross the river. The river water is particularly urgent and both of them may be washed away.The daughter thought: if you wash away, you will be killed. As long as the mother can reach the other side safely.My mother thought: As long as my daughter can reach the other side, it doesn’t matter if I die.Altruistic intentions between mother and daughter are normal, and anyone with a conscience will think so.

Although both mother and daughter were washed away by the river, they were not judged by King Yama after their death and were immediately reborn for thirty-three days.You should know that most people have to go to King Yama after death. Only after being judged can they be judged to go to heaven or hell.This is the merits and benefits of altruistic minds.

The second case: It is about the previous life of Sakyamuni Buddha.When Shakyamuni Buddha was in the causal realm, he was reincarnated in hell where he was pulled by a carriage.One day, he and his companion Gamazeza pulled the carriage of hell.At that time, he had not yet developed the Bodhicitta and was still suffering in hell.The carriage was very large, and both of them could not pull it together.

The jailers beat them with hammers and suffered very unbearable pain.At this time, he thought: Neither of us can pull the cart, and instead of feeling the pain together, I might as well pull the cart alone and let my companions rest.This is the first time that Sakyamuni Buddha has made a altruistic intention.He asked Gamareza to rest and pull the cart by himself.

The jailers came over and asked:Why not let your companions pull the cart? He said:Even if neither of us can pull it, let him rest and I will pull it alone.The jailers said:The karma created by oneself must bear the fruit of the ripening fruit, so how can anyone replace it? Then he hit his head with a hammer, and he died immediately, and was reincarnated for thirty-three days in an instant.

If he were in normal times, he would not die because he would feel endless pain in hell.But because he developed an altruistic mind and with this kind of good root, he immediately died and was reborn for thirty-three days, and never fell into hell again.Although this kind of altruistic mind is very common, and people with a little kind heart will think and do this, their merits and benefits are incredible.

The third case: It is about a beggar's altruistic intention.There was a man who wanted to be a king in particular, so the beggar became altruistic towards him, hoping that he could become a king.The next day, the king of his country passed away.The king had no descendants, so the ministers discussed finding a man with good fortune to inherit the throne.

They searched for such people everywhere and saw the beggar under a big tree.He was very tired and rested in the shade of this tree, and then fell asleep.At this time, the other shades were removed, but this shade was still there.These ministers came to the beggar and saw this scene. They concluded that this person was not an ordinary person, but a man of blessings, and then prayed that he would be the king.

Look, this is also the merit and benefit of altruistic mind.In fact, we are often confused because we don’t have enough wisdom.Little do they know that just such a thought has incredible merit.But we certainly don't care much about these things.Don’t there be many people who want to change their destiny and eliminate obstacles now? Then be altruistic!
