One day, Venerable Maudgalyayana went to hell with his supernatural powers and saw sentient beings with several yojanas suffering in the Avici Hell.With its karma, many jailmen dragged out their tongues and nailed them on the ground of burning red steel plates. Many farmers drove oxen and plowed, and sometimes the flames burned, and their entire tongues and bodies were burned out by a ball of fire, and they were resurrected again;Many farmers plow the land on their tongues. The ox and the farmers' feet stepped down and lifted them up. Each step was a weapon that cut the tongue into pieces of minced meat. It was in pain, rolling and rolling, and shouting loudly.Maudgalyayana witnessed this sinful and suffering sentient being, and used the wisdom of the Śrāvaka to enter into samadhi, and observed how evil karma they had committed in the previous life, so that they suffered in the Amitabha hell today, and observed the lives that their own Śrāvaka wisdom could not be observed in the Amitabha hell. These sentient beings have been suffering in the Amitabha hell, and when this prison is destroyed, they are reincarnated in another prison, without leaving any time.

The Eight Hells and Eight Colds in the Eight Hells in the Evil Realm all exist. We can only roughly describe and describe the pain that sentient beings there.When it comes to the pain of hell, some people, although they don’t say anything verbally, may be thinking in their hearts: “Can it be so serious?Is the Buddha scaring us?Is it a convenient language to let us practice diligently and to help us develop a sense of renunciation?Where is there ice and snow?Where is the burning iron ground?Where did so much iron come from?Who built such a large project?Who burned such a big fire and who worked there?Who is paying them a salary?"In the sutra, the Buddha said that these are all inspired by the karma of sentient beings, and they are all naturally formed, all manifested by karma and caused by karma.

One day, Venerable Maudgalyayana went to the hungry ghost realm and saw a big hungry ghost with two upper bodies and one lower body by the sea. The fire was burning all over, and the heat was unbearable. The iron-mouthed tiger, lion, cheetah, big bear and other iron-mouthed tiger, lion, cheetah, big bear, etc. bit their body in big mouths.This hungry ghost could not bear it and fled desperately.When it escaped to another place, before it had time to breathe, it was stabbed by many people with karma with various weapons such as swords and other weapons... In short, no matter where it escaped, it would be chased and killed by evil beasts. One of its upper bodies was cut into pieces and then reappeared, and continued to be cut. When it was cut into pieces, another reappeared on the other side, and the karma was not exhausted, so I couldn't even die.In this way, it is extremely painful.It tossed and turned, ran around, cried loudly... Life was worse than death.

After reading the above two cases, if we cannot fully understand and believe in the pain of hell and hungry ghosts, then we can also make similar observations on some things in the human world, so that we can also understand the pain of the evil realms.For example, some people are sick for the rest of their lives, and are already dying, and have no hope of cure, but they cannot die. They feel the torture of illness day after day, year after year, and life is worse than death.

The pain felt by sentient beings in the animal realm is also visible directly.People tied monkeys to a fixed place under the dining table, exposing the top of the monkey's head only on the dining table, then cut the skin on the monkey's head, smashed the skull with a hammer, and took out the brains and dipped it in oil to eat.A few hours later, the waiter pulled out the tied monkey when the guests were full of wine and food. At this time, the monkey was still alive.Also, the chef took out the internal organs of the live fish and put the fish into the oil pan to fry it. At this time, the fish was still jumping around in the pan.This is quite light, there are many terrible things...

On the surface, we are talking about the pain of sentient beings in the evil realms, but in fact we are talking about ourselves.

Creating evil karma with hatred is the cause of going to hell. Everyone should carefully observe their own continuity. Have they committed evil karma with hatred in the past?If so, then there are already seeds of hell in our Alaya consciousness. Once the cause and condition are combined, it will soon sprout and bear fruit. Perhaps in no time, we will suffer these pains.In fact, in our past lives, we have also experienced these pains countless times. If we do not use our human body now and do not seize the time to practice the Dharma, we will go to hell in the future.We should think from the perspective of others, put ourselves in the position of all beings in hell, and feel the pain.If you do not cherish your precious human body and practice diligently, and now sit in the hall and listen to the sutras and Dharma, you may become a yak eating grass on the hillside in the next moment.
